Apparently Vestas, the only wind turbine manufacturer on the Isle of Wight, has closed. There were plans to turn it into the first onshore wind farm (and seeing as the Isle of Wight is so small it would probably provide most of their required energy) however a mixture of the recession and the UK planning process has grinded it to a halt. Our local campaigner wants the government to get behind the cause and show some support to ‘green’ England.

The government are the ones that promise ‘green’ jobs will become available. Thousands of pounds is then spent advertising and encouraging us to all go green – telling us to turn appliances off instead of leaving them on standby etc. Are they really committed to turning the UK green do you think? Do you think they are all talk and no action (like so many other projects)?
Will the UK ever go green and utilise renewable energy??
