New jobs created to maintain the Midlands!

Postby Emily-O on Tue Jul 07, 2009 2:18 pm

More than 30 maintenance jobs in Midlands will be created now that CLC Contractors have won a £6.4M contract! The contract will see the company carry out the maintenance and refurbishment of 15,000 of Midland Heart’s properties across the region. I think it is great that companies are planning to maintain and even refurbish existing homes rather then build more. I know that the south east is facing a lot housing pressure and they just keep putting more in. I wouldn’t want our beautiful countryside to be invaded!!

What I think would make the situation even better is if some green jobs could also be created. Maybe I am just unaware of any schemes in place? We have so much technology available I would like to believe that we can start reducing our fossil fuel usage and start using more sustainable energy. Do you think wind turbines would be any good in the Midlands?

thats great news for the region :)

Wind turbines are a great source of power and nicely green although they are a blot on the landscape not everyone likes them like me :)

I was reading about a proposal for East Midlands airport to install advanced wind turbines in order to help with green issues and lower carbon emissions. I don't have enough knowledge about their side effects on the environment - but they may well be coming to the midlands!

Ah that sounds pretty good! They may be an eyesore but they are really good for the environment.

Have you ever seen some of the decorated mobile phone signal poles? There are some along the motorway that they have decorated in an attempt to make them look like less of an eyesore. They have somehow attached fake branches so they look like trees!!

Do air turbines have negative effects on the environment?
